How my music journey began …
I grew up in Springfield, Ohio. When I was eight years old, my cousin Dee had a player piano on her breezeway and I would love to go and pump that piano as fast as possible. Then Dee started taking piano lessons! I would listen to what she was learning, and I would try to copy her. It was fun.
At the age of nine, my mom and dad were hosting a booth at the Clark County Home and Garden Show when I saw the piano displays and the man who demonstrated how the pianos could be played. I was hooked! I told my mom what I wanted for my birthday, but after I found out how much pianos cost during those days, I said I could do without it. She and daddy said that if I would practice, they would consider getting one.
On my birthday – I received a Wurlitzer spinet piano, which I still have today and have gifted to my twin granddaughters for their piano lessons.
From that day, I have used my music for enjoyment and professional experience. It has been the best part of my life!
Tell me about your piano experience and where it has gone since that day.
Thanks for joining me!
